This book is "supposed" to be reassuring. However, after it being read in school to my pre-schooler, who had not previously harbored fears about her closet or monsters, she was afraid of monsters in her closet. That lasted about a year. Unless they already have a strong fear of this and you think it might help, I'd skip it.
