Do not apply too much pressure as the lens is held in place with very fine wires. If the brush helps to allow a CD to play, the cleaning should be a bit more effective.

I have the UBP-X700 and have the same issue. It never freezes when playing DVDs or BluRay - only UHDs. It froze on TopGun UHD purchased brand new. But when I cleaned the disc, it worked fine. It seems to be a thing with UHDs in that they need to be cleaned before being played even when they are new.If it's brand new, return it as you should have a warranty. As long as the playing surface is clean, your disc should theoretically play back fine. Often, even a disc with significant damage can play back flawlessly.
